      KUWAI is built for Kuwait. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what is needed to run the service.
    

1. Who We Are

KUWAI ("we", "our", or "us") is a social platform for Kuwait. You can reach us at info@kuwai.app.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your Kuwaiti mobile phone number (+965) to verify your identity via one-time passcode (OTP). You may optionally provide a display name, username, bio, and profile photo.

Content you create: Posts (text, photos, videos), comments, replies, likes, follows, and any other content you submit.

Device information: Push notification token (so we can deliver notifications to your device), app version, and operating system.

Usage data: Basic interaction logs (e.g., when you open the app) to keep the service running and improve it.

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account
To display your posts and profile to other users
To send you push notifications about activity on your account (follows, likes, comments)
To provide customer support when you contact us
To improve app performance and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Media You Upload

Photos and videos you attach to posts are uploaded to Cloudinary (a secure cloud media service) and stored on their servers. By posting media, you grant KUWAI a license to display it to users of the platform.

5. Third-Party Services

Twilio Verify — sends OTP SMS messages to verify your phone number.
Cloudinary — stores and serves media files (photos and videos).
MongoDB Atlas — our database provider, hosted in the cloud.
Expo / Apple Push Notification Service — delivers push notifications to your device.

Each third party has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data required for each service to function.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including your posts, comments, notifications, and profile — is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems.

7. Your Rights

Access: You can view all your content within the app.
Correction: You can update your profile at any time from the app.
Deletion: You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account. This cannot be undone.

8. Children's Privacy

KUWAI is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us at info@kuwai.app and we will remove the account.

9. Security

We use HTTPS for all data in transit and store passwords using industry-standard hashing. However, no system is completely secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when changes were last made. Continued use of the app after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
